Learning Plan for April and May 2020
Remote Learning Packets and Dates
Our official remote learning days will be every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday beginning on April 8th. You will be receiving a learning packet on Parent Square every two weeks with assignments and activities for that period. Please expect to receive this week’s packet by Wednesday. Please see the schedule below:
Packet #1: March 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
Packet #2: April 8, 9, 14, 15, 16
Packet #3: April 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30
Packet #4: May 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14
Packet #5: May 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28
The school will be providing paper copies of packets on April 16th. In the mean time, this means you have a couple of choices: If you have access to a printer, you can print packet #2 for your child. If not, your child can access the packet online and complete work in a spiral notebook or on separate sheets of paper. That would be perfectly fine! For some assignments, I will also be offering an option to complete online in Google Classroom.
Completed Work and Grades
Wayne Township students in grades K-2 will not be receiving grades for this grading period, and teachers will not be collecting work packets. However, the State of Indiana has told us that students should still learn the academic standards for their current grade level. Thus, students should try to complete all assigned work. Thank you for keeping track of your child’s progress at home!

I will be using my teacher website to post a video for each day of remote learning. This video will walk students through their packet and give examples. Because this is such a long period of time, videos will also introduce some new learning for your child. If possible, I strongly encourage your child to watch each day’s video.
I will continue posting a read aloud video for each day of remote learning. And I will offer some ideas and resources for you to use in your home. All old postings will remain available, so you or your child can revisit these as needed.

If you have internet access at home, your child will have access to our school’s digital resources. They should follow the link above. They will log in with their Wayne Township username and the password Wayne123
This will allow your child to access MyOn and the Pearson My View reading book. If your child does not know his/her Wayne Township username, please contact me, and I can look it up.
Google Classroom

All remote learning assignments can be completed with paper/pencil. However, I am also offering Google Classroom as an option for some of our reading and writing assignments. When students type their work in Google Classroom, I will be able to see it and offer feedback. Students’ login email will be: [Wayne Township Username]@student.wayne.k12.in.us
Password is: Wayne123
Students will go to “Mr. Albano’s Second Grade Class.” Students should have some familiarity with Google Classroom, as we have used it in class. If your child is unable to access our class page, please let me know.
Chromebooks
Unfortunately, Chromebooks are not being issued to second graders. However, if your child has older siblings at home with a school-issued Chromebook, they can also share it. They should be able to log in with their own Wayne Township username and the password: Wayne123

I will be working from home throughout this time and will be available each day, Monday-Friday. Please send me a message on Parent Square or an email at [email protected]. I will respond as quickly as possible.
Personal Belongings Left at School
For right now, our school building is closed. Even for teachers and principals, building access is extremely limited. Our superintendent, Dr. Butts, will communicate a plan for retrieving your child’s personal belongings at some point in the future.
Still Evolving!
We teachers are really learning "on the fly" right now. Please know that there may be some adjustments to this plan over the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience and support as as we go!!
