Sunday in Rome
Sunday, June 10, 2018
Today, I had a great Sunday in Rome. Since it is Sunday, I went to church this morning at this beautiful church on the left. Churches are everywhere in Rome, and every one of them is incredibly decorated inside!
After that, I took a short walk to St. Peter's Square, which is one of the most famous places in the world. Did you know that you leave the country of Italy when you walk into St. Peter's Square? St. Peter's is in Vatican City, which is the smallest country in the world. It is a little tiny country inside the city of Rome. For my students who remember studying area, it is less than one square mile. Vatican City (or "the Vatican") is surrounded by Italy on all sides.

Tonight, I had dinner with my cousin Daniela, her husband Ricardo, and their daughter Zoe. They live right outside of Rome. I am glad to have people here who can recommend good Roman dishes for me to eat! We also witnessed some Sunday fun in the piazza nearby, but I can't get my video to upload, so I will try again another day. (Piazzas--not pizzas--are little squares where two or more roads come together. They are a great place to sit down and relax in the middle of the city. You will find them everywhere in Italy!)
I will be traveling quite a bit the next few days, so I will not be posting as much. I will try to get caught up on Wednesday when I arrive in Malta! I hope you have enjoyed these pictures of the wonderful city of Rome! It has been a fantastic time here!
